Establish a communication plan

If you have questions about emergency preparedness or have difficulty registering for emergency notifications, contact Johnny Valenzuela for assistance at jvalenzuela@kensingtonfire.org.

  1. Are you registered to receive emergency alerts and warnings?

Knowing when to be prepared and take action is critical. If you have registered for the Community Warning System, ensure the Warning System's phone number is added to your caller ID. There may be a chance that your cell phone provider flags an emergency call as "possible spam." Don't miss a critical message, and add this number to your contact list: 925-655-0195 and name it  "Contra Costa County Community  Warning System."

The Contra Costa County Community Warning System (CWS)  is an all-hazards system designed to alert the community of an emergency through multiple communication tools. We urge all residents to register with CWS to receive emergency alerts.

Among the alerts issued by CWS, evacuation orders caused by Wildfire are the most notable for Kensington.

The Kensington Fire Protection District notifies email subscribers of Red Flag Warnings. A Red Flag Warning is issued for weather events that may result in extreme fire behavior that will occur within 24 hours

This email will provide you with a reminder of steps to take during the highest wildfire risk days. This email does not replace a Community Warning System alert.  Being prepared will give you a head start on evacuations—every minute matters, so prepare and stay aware.
