Car Seat Installation Program

The Fire Department provides child safety seat checks and installations. This program allows Kensington and El Cerrito residents to schedule car seat installation at the Kensington Fire Station. Two of our firefighters have completed Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician Training and will be taking continuing education in order to keep up with ever-changing automobile standards and car seat models. Considering that most child safety seats are installed incorrectly by mostly well-meaning parents and guardians, this service is critical to the survival and well-being of Kensington's youngest citizens. Please call 215-4450 to schedule an appointment.

Free Smoke Detectors for Elderly, Disabled and Low-Income Residents

With the cooperation of Home Depot, Target and Radio Shack, the Fire Department offers free smoke detectors to elderly, disabled and low-income Kensington and El Cerrito residents. For more information, please call 215-4450 Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The department's goal is to have a working smoke detector in every home!
