KENSINGTON FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT: BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors of the Kensington Fire Protection District are elected for staggered four year terms. The Board members are volunteers that serve the Kensington community. They are not compensated for their service or attendance at Board meetings.

All members of the Board of Directors have current certifications for Open, Ethical Leadership Training in compliance with AB1234 (click here to download a copy of their certifications) and also for the California Special Districts Association's Governance Foundations class.

Joe de Ville
Joe de Ville was raised in Kensington and attended Kensington Hilltop School, Portola Jr. HS and ECHS. He then went on to receive an AA in Police Science from Diablo Valley College and a BA in Criminology from University of California, Berkeley. Joe worked for the City of Richmond for over 30 years, and is currently retired. Joe has lived in Kensington for over 40 years. He has served on the Board of Directors since early 2011.

Don Dommer
Don Dommer is a 30 year resident of Kensington. Don previously served on the Board of Directors of the Kensington Fire Protection District for 14 years and is now welcomed back as of fall 2015. Don is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and holds Bachelor and Masters degrees in Architecture. He has practiced architecture throughout the United States and is the head of Don Dommer Associates, Architecture and Planning.

Nina Harmon
Nina Harmon has lived in Kensington for over 30 years. Her daughters Ann and Catherine were born and raised in Kensington, attending Hilltop Elementary School. Nina is committed to local government and community involvement. She has served on the Board of Directors since 2000. Nina says, "I knew I had come home the first day I moved here. I appreciate my Kensington neighbors who know each other and work together to ensure a safe and healthy community." Nina recently retired from her position as an administrator and manager for a large east bay probation department.

Janice Kosel
Janice Kosel is a lifelong resident of Kensington. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Kensington Fire Protection District since 1994. Janice is a graduate of UC Berkeley (1968) and Boalt Hall School of Law (1971). She is a law professor at Golden Gate University in San Francisco.

Larry Nagel
Larry Nagel is an independent consultant in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was born and raised in Bakersfield and studied Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. Larry worked in various areas of integrated circuit engineering at Bell Laboratories in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for 20 years, and then established his own consulting practice. While in New Jersey, Larry served in the Randolph Township Fire Department for more than 30 years, serving as Company Chief for three years. In 2008, he returned to his native California where he now resides with his wife Jean in Kensington.
